Eric Tardif

Quebec, Canada

Wood Sculpture

"Poetry in motion"

“Inspired by nature, but also by the art of the Fist Nations of Canada, I am sensitive to the expressive possibilities of wood. My passion for birds, their elegance and grace in movement, is one of the many sources that stimulate my creativity and imagination. My sculptures are a metaphorical way of capturing the essence of a bird in flight in a realistic form.”

Eric adapted an ancient technique to realize his visions - steam bending. Steam bending is a process in which heat vapor is used to make wood slats pliable for builders. Eric’s magnificent wood sculptures are incredibly innovative and unique and have received numerous awards from around the world.
